Can I take the device with me when I travel?

Yes, you can and you should take the CPAP with you when you travel.  Many patients feel tired or drowsy the next day if they skip a night or two.  The device is small, lightweight and comes with a carry bag and manufacturer’s instructions on how to use the device when traveling on an airplane or when visiting different countries.  If using a humidifier, be sure to empty the water chamber.  Additional travel information may be found at:

What is the easiest and fastest way to get used to CPAP?

Like anything new to a bedtime routine, such as using a new bed pillow or wearing a mouth guard, it may take a few days to get used to it. The best way is to start using it EVERY NIGHT.  Some patients find that if they wear it while they are awake such as while reading or watching television, it helps them acclimate faster.

What are the overall benefits of humidification?

Up to 40% of PAP users experience nasal congestion and dryness of the nose and throat. These symptoms can be severe enough to prevent patients from continuing their treatment.

The humidifier adds moisture and warmth to the air delivered by a CPAP or bi-level system. This reduces symptoms of dryness and congestion, improving patient comfort and compliance.

Research also shows that nasal resistance can promote mouth breathing, which in turn leads to additional dryness. Heated humidification can prevent the large increase in nasal resistance that results in mouth breathing and leaks

What about Allergies?

Please let your CPAP technician know if you suffer from allergies. Saline sprays may help clear up any congestion you may experience.  You should contact your doctor should you have any questions about medications that may help you. Also, we can provide you with allergen filters in addition to the regular filters that you will receive. The allergen filters are disposable and they DO NOT need to be washed. One filter should last about one month.
